Black Cat Superstition

Black Cat Superstition Origin: Egypt

The worst phase for the black cats came after Egyptian dominance.

  • This could be probably due the later rulers that shunned everything that was Egyptian. As breaking the cultural shield is the first route to setting up a new dominance, later empires might have tried to break the belief system and thus induce new hatred which later, through generations, transformed into superstitions.
  • The origins of this old superstition can be traced back to ancient Egypt, where the Goddess Bast was represented as a black cat. People began to fear black cats because they associated them with the Goddess getting angry with them and causing problems.

Black Cat Myth: Variations Across Geography

Depending on the place one stays, there are various superstitions pertaining to the cats. While in USA or several European countries, a black cat crossing your path is considered unlucky, in places such as Britain and Japan, it is considered lucky.

90's style coming HARD

Posted 2011-04-13 21:54:27 | Views: 13,440

I know the whole 80's look was big for a minute...but you know that shit gets old. Yeah, get over it or kill yourself. New style always comes from older styles. In the 80's people dressed like the 50's. In the 90's people wore bell bottoms. This new/old style has been coming for a while...but people are just gonna see more and more of it.

Some might call it grunge...others might call it 90's...well pretty soon everybody is going to be rocking Pumas, Dickie pants, hoodies, Beenies and all that. People might also wear Speedo shorts with neon flashy colors. Homeboy’s dick hanging out…but let's hope not. Let’s not forget the overalls. That shit is happening as we speak. I’m checkin’ my head…are you?

UP

Pixar’s animated movie UP has inspired the makings of this balloon house. It may be slightly out of the typical range of architecture on the blog, but its safe to say this is truly unique; never has it been done before.

On the morning of March 5th, National Geographic Channel and a team of scientists, engineers and balloon pilots launched the 16 x 16 foot house with 300 8 foot balloons. The house floated around for about an hour and reached an altitude of over 10,000 feet. Look for more coverage of this in the fall of 2011 in a series called How Hard Can it Be.
